Mally Beauty Liquid Light Eyecolor In, "Champagne"

I am not going to proclaim my love for Mally Beauty this time, because if you have read my blog in the past you already know how much I am in love with her amazing makeup! I will however give you my opinion on a product of hers that I received in her Black Friday special goodie bag that she had this past November.

This is her Liquid Light Eyecolor in the color, "Champagne" and when I went to search her website, this product did not turn up, so I am assuming that this might be discontinued. But, I have seen these sold on Ebay and I am sure if you search other beauty websites you can find it there. So, if this is something that you are interested in, or something you have tried in the past that you would like to purchase once more, search the internet for the best price, because they are out there!

This is such a pretty mint green packaging, I love this color! The top screws on and off and reveals a plastic tip where the powder pours out. Now, this was very intriguing to me, because I had no clue what to expect with this product. I went online and found a video from Mally herself explaining and showing how to use this product.

Carefully tap some of the powder into the top of the cap and than you take your eyeshadow brush and swirl the powder around. It than goes from a powder consistency to somewhat of a wetter formula. Not quite a cream, not a liquid, but a wet powder.

Take your eyeshadow brush and apply the shadow onto the lids and it feels wet and cooling, but it goes on like a powder! It is seriously an awesome sensation on the lids! I can see why she calls this a liquid eyeshadow and it stays put and lasts all day long!

This is such a pretty light golden color that brightens the eyes and brings beautiful shine to the lids! This is a soft and natural color that is definitely made for every skin tone.

Honestly, there is nothing unique about this eye color, but the formula is what makes it different. The powder to "liquid" (wet) consistency is what makes this stick to the lids and last all day. Yet, this is a process to apply if you don't have the time nor the desire to pour the product out and swirl it around and than apply it to the lids. There are steps to this application, so this may be a special product that you would want to use when you want your eyeshadow to last all day or night. I know on special occasions I don't mind spending a little extra time on my makeup and getting ready!

If you are intrigued by this product, go ahead and try this out if you can find it! It is a pretty neat formula with some fun, if time consuming, application. But, you will not be disappointed!

BareMinerals Well-Rested Face And Eye Brightener

I have become a fan of BareMinerals products this past year, because I find that they are of high quality and their performance is outstanding! When I received their Well-Rested Face And Eye Brightener in a recent Sephora beauty kit, I was very excited to try this out!

This retails on Spephra's website for $22.00 and comes in one color, Clear, which they say is suitable for all skin tones. They claim that this will highlight and illuminate the skin, while minimizing dark spots, wrinkles, lines and discolorations over time.

To get the product out, you twist the bottom of the pen until the product comes out of the middle of the brush tipped applicator. I like products like this, because you can crank out as much or as little as you like and not feel like you have wasted any product.

This is the typical plastic brush tipped applicator and the product comes cleanly out the middle. Personally, for the face, I am not a huge fan of this type of application, because the tip will get dirty from using it over and over. As far as hygiene, this is not the most sanitary way to apply the product onto your skin.

Above on the left is a swatch of the product squeezed and brushed out out and on the right,  it is  sheered out. Initially when applying, this has a creaminess that becomes slightly tacky that then dries down and will not budge.

They say that you can wear this on bare skin or over makeup, depending on your preference and the look that you want that day.

Now, I have heard that some people have tried this out underneath the eyes, and some like it, some hate it. I personally hate it for under the eyes, because this is such a reflective product, that it looks ashy and extremely strange. Because it is reflective, it highlights the fine lines under the eyes, and the look is ghastly on me! Thus, I am not a fan of using this under the eyes.

However, if this is blended out on the cheekbones, inner eyes, or the bridge of the nose this looks beautiful! It highlights without it looking sparkly and overdone.

This is a nice highlighter that I know I can rely on because it will not budge and it looks subtle.

Another great product from BareMinerals that I found I enjoy!

Rimmel Provocalips 16HR Kissproof Lip Colour In, "I'll Call You"

Rimmel has been coming out with some brand new products lately, and their Provocalips lipstick really grabbed my attention. When I had read that this claims to be not just kiss proof and transfer proof, but food proof, too, I was instantly intrigued!

I purchased this in the color, I'll Call You, and this retails for around $7.00 at the drugstore and comes in eight different colors all together. Rimmel says that this product will feel comfortable to wear on the lips, leaving them moisturized all day long. Let's see if this lipstick is worth all the hype around it!

I cannot start this review without addressing the down right adorable lip prints on the end of the package where the clear lipgloss is! It is just too cute not to address first! So, now that that is out of the way.... ;)

Both ends twist off, and the end with the lip prints all over it is the part of the tube that holds the clear gloss that goes over the lipstick after it sets. The other end is the lipstick itself and both have the same type of doe foot applicator. The applicator is typical as any other and does a great job applying the lipstick. I am a fan of doe foot applicators because I find that it helps to outline the lips, which is so important when you are working with a highly pigmented product!

I will mention that I really like how this has the two products all in one convenient packaging. There are a few other lip products similar to this that need a balm or gloss to go over it to give the lips some moisture or shine that comes in a completely separate package. Rimmel hit it on the spot with the convenience of the product!

The first step you take, of course, is applying the lipstick itself. They recommend keeping your lips separated for one minute while you wait for the lipstick to set. There is no scent to this lipstick, for those who hate scented lipsticks, you will be very pleased.

Step 2 is applying the clear gloss over the lipstick to lock the lipstick in place and add some shine. Maybe it is just me, but I detect a slightly faint-hard-to-notice sugary scent to this gloss, but it is undetectable when you apply it.

They claim that when you wear this lipstick it won't feel tight on your lips and they are right! This is so comfortable to wear because the gloss does add moisture to the lips and gives them a pretty shine. Even after eating two meals with this on, the gloss did come off, but the lipstick itself stayed locked on my lips with minimal fading! Usually with certain foods the lipstick will fade drastically away because of the oils, but, it stayed put very well!

Application

After wearing for seven hours

My lips did not feel dried out after the gloss faded or after wearing this for seven hours. I was so very happy, because I found myself completely in love with the formula of this lipstick and how wonderful it wore on the lips throughout the day.

All the claims of this product are absolutely true! Although, I cannot confirm it lasts for 16 hours, but it sure lasted for the seven hours I wore this. For me, that is good enough!

I cannot wait to buy more of these lipsticks, because I can promise you that this is my new love!

Have you tried any other colors? Please let me know which ones you love!

Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo

Let's face it, there are those days when we just feel plain lazy and absolutely dread the thought of shampooing, conditioning, blowdrying and styling our hair! That's when dry shampoo comes in handy, but it must be an absolutely fail-proof dry shampoo.

So, I was pumped up to try Drybar's Detox Dry Shampoo, which I received in a Sephora Glitz and Glam beauty bag. This is in it's original formula, not the one made specifically for brunettes, which would be best for us dark haired ladies. The full sized version of this retails for $22.00 on Sephora's website.

The claims of this product are that the product absorbs excess oils, impurities and odor while adding volume to the hair. This says that the product will blend perfectly into the hair and won't leave any product behind, while claiming that this will also prolong your blowout! These are all things that I only dream about in a dry shampoo!

Let's see if it lived up to its promises!

Lets start with the product itself... When you spray this, this comes out extremely powerful! As with all dry shampoos, spray this a few inches away form your roots and let it absorb into your hair before your rub it in with your fingers. The formula is amazing, because it truly absorbs the oil that is left in my hair and takes a way the greasy feeling that builds up with my second day hair. This dry shampoo does that job the best out of the many that I have tried!

As for volume, yes, it gives the typical volume that any dry shampoo will typically give you. Not bad, I must say, because it is satisfactory. By the second day, my limp hair needs an extra pump of volume and this gets the job done!

Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo: One quick pump!
See how much product comes out! Make sure you spray quickly and evenly

Dry shampoo rubbed out a bit.
Notice how very powdery it is, which absorbs the oils amazingly!

What I despise about this is the horrid blast of white product that this leaves in my hair. It is straight up baby powder white! The white product sat on the top of my roots and did not blend easily at all. It left my hair looking as if it had a light tint of grey at the roots. Not flattering! However, I am sure that it  must blend in easily with blonde colored ladies out there, but as for us dark haired ladies, try out the one made specifically for brunettes (which I have NOT tried myself), hopefully it blends more easily.

I need my dry shampoo to make my hair smell fresh and clean, and this positively does not deliver, which is a huge disappointment! They claim that this is going to absorb any odor, but it leaves me with a strange cedar like scent, which is not what I want my hair to smell like. Unfortunately, this scent sticks to the hair all day long, and does not go away. It gets obnoxious, because even I can smell it as I go about my day and it is unpleasant. My hair smells like freshly cut cedar wood, which is a smell that does not belong in the hair...

I really love how this product performs, but the issue I have with this is the smell! (We will not mention the white cast it left in my hair, because I believe this will work great for light colored hair, I am eager to try the one for brunettes!) I cannot get over the scent, it is that strong and it will not fade! YUCK! If they came out with one that smells lovely, than I would purchase this product in the one for brunettes. Otherwise, I sadly shall have to pass, based on the smell...

What's your favorite dry shampoo out there? I know there is so many out there to try anymore!

Eva NYC Surfs Up! Texture Spray

In My Boxycharm last month I received an interesting hair product, the type that I have never tried before by any brand, so I was eager to see how this would play out! This is from Eva NYC and it is their Surfs Up! Texture Spray in a 1oz travel sized bottle which is perfect to take along with me in my bag! I have not tried anything from this brand, nor even heard of Eva NYC before, so I was curious to see how this would play out.

On Eva NYC's website  the full sized 5.3 oz full-sized version retails for $24.00 and they claim that this will give your hair beachy waves and insane volume, leaving you with a matte finish.

I know this is kind of funny to say about the packaging of a hair product, but I think this is cute! I think the pinkish-orange and purple on the bottle is really adorable!

The nozzle on the spray bottle is typical for a spray product and it hasn't clogged up on me yet, which is lovely! Sometimes there are hair sprays and other products out there that will clog or get goopy. This one has stood the test of time so far!

The formula is a clear spray so it will not show up in dark hair, which is such a blessing for us dark haired girls. I have used this only on the roots because I love adding volume to my hair, and this one delivers! I spray this in my roots and work it in with my fingers and it gives my hair a nice tousled lifted look without it feeling crunchy. I can still run my fingers through my hair, thankfully!

I would have to say that I do not notice the matte finish that this claims to leave behind. Maybe because I have dark hair already, not sure... But, I am okay with that.

I have to mention that I adore the scent of this product! I cannot put my finger on it, but it reminds me of a lovely perfume that I have in my collection. I hesitate to say that this has a faint hint of Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy perfume... Maybe it is just me, but this is what I am smelling! It has a slightly sweet scent that I truly enjoy, and it lingers for most of the day!

I am so glad that I received this in my box last month, because I have fallen in love with a new product that I would definitely repurchase in their full-sized version!

Be A Bombshell Lip Crayon In, "Bitten"

In my December Boxycharm, which was fabulous, I received a lip crayon from a cosmetics company that I had never heard of before, Bombshell Cosmetics, in the color, "Bitten", a beautiful deep red color. While red lips look glamorous, they are out of my comfort zone, so having received this in my box I was excited to play with it!

This retails on Bombshell Cosmetics website for $14.00 each and comes in eight different color options. They describe it as a glossy lip crayon that has a smooth texture. They say that for full coverage you can apply the crayon to the top and bottom of your lips and apply several coats until you get the desired results. If you want a more sheer coverage you can apply it to the bottom lip and than blot lips together.

The plastic based packaging is exactly like a typical lip crayon and twists from the bottom, except for the fact that the plastic cap is a little too flimsy feeling for my taste, especially considering this is a $14.00 lip crayon, I would expect better packaging. Especially when you see what happened when I barely went to twist up the product up just to see how easily it twists...

Yeah... The product broke right on out extremely easy. I do not know if all of their lip crayons are like this, but after this happened, I felt as if this packaging was cheaply made, especially after I shoved the lipstick back in, because it still feels unsecured when I apply it. Just beware so this doesn't happen to you and cause a mess!

So I give the packaging a huge thumbs down!

Bombshell Cosmetics Lip Crayon in, "Bitten"

The product itself is wonderful! The description of this particular shade is that it has a high shine, yet when I apply it and wear it, it leaves me with a matte finish. I do not see shine at all... Not a big deal for me, just not what I was expecting from what the description told me.

When I apply the product it feels like a matte lipstick, as it kind of drags across the lips. The application is great, though, because it is easy to line the lips with and the color is definitely buildable. So, this would be great for a wash of color or a deep bold red lip!

Despite the fact that this is a matte finish (yes that is my verdict!), I find that this is comfortable to wear, even for a couple of hours. I do not feel the need to apply chapstick as I wear this throughout the day, because this feels pleasant on the lips!

While I adore this lipstick itself, I despise the horrible packaging! This is not worth your $14.00 because Revlon makes outstanding lip crayons for less than $10.00 and their packaging will hold up over time, nor will the product fall out on you!

Not impressed with this one! If you tried this product before let me know what your experience with this has been!

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in, "Rose Gold"

Eyeshadow sticks are one of my favorite beauty products because they are easy to apply without having to think about it. I have proclaimed my love for Mally Beauty's eyeshadow sticks that last forever and a day on my lids. I was happy to try out Laura Mercier's own version of eye shadow sticks and I have this in the color, "Rose Gold".

On Sephora's website Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks retail for $28.00 a piece and come in an array of ten different beautiful shades.

Let's check out the one I have in the color, "Rose Gold"!

This is sturdy packaging and holds up extremely well and the cap will not come lose. Of course, this is a twist up product which is ideal for eyeshadow sticks. You never have to sharpen them which is a major bonus!

"Rose Gold"

The claim of this product is that this is creamy, long wearing, transfer-proof and crease-proof. Interestingly they say that these are great to use to create smokey eye looks and that they blend easily.

When I first applied this product, I could tell right away this is creamy and silky smooth and it glided easily onto the eyelids with no tugging.  I have worn this all day with an eyeshadow primer and this does last without creasing or transferring. I have oily eyelids so, I always need primer on my lids no matter how awesome the staying power of a product is.

The color is a little bright, as in a little too champagne, for my lids when I apply it all over my lids as an eyeshadow. I do like it as an inner corner highlight, though, because it does brighten, but for my medium skin tone itself, it comes off a little harsh. It is a gorgeous color though!

This is a beautiful formula and has such a silky texture with amazing staying power that I really do love these Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks. They have a great selection of colors that would please just about everybody!

Check these out sometime, or if you already have and you have a personal favorite, let me know which one!

Lancome Artliner- Precision Point Eyeliner in, "Noir"

For me, I like liquid eyeliners and gel eyeliners because they are so quick to apply, especially when I am in a hurry. Since my much loved Revlon Colorstay liquid eyeliner had run dry, I was happy to try out Lancome's Artliner Precision Point Eyeliner in, "Noir"!

On Spehora's website this retails for $30.50 and it comes in two basic colors, either, Noir or Brown.

I do like the packaging and how it is in a pot form, if you will, with a screw off top. The wand isn't too long where you feel like you loose control, but it is still comfortable to hold, because I know that when applying liquid eyeliner you need as much control as possible.

With that said....

I have a love/hate relationship with the tip of this wand. Let me explain as best as I possibly can...

What I do like is that this is a pointed foam tip and it is great for applying the product when you want a finely precise wing/line. It glides effortlessly across the lash line and transfers just the right amount of product. This will not deposit more product than you need, if that makes sence.

What I do not like is that the tip is flexible. This is just a personal opinion, but I am not a fan of flexible tips because it makes me feel like I could lose control of application because it might bend a little farther than I want causing me to mess up... I like a stiffer tip when applying liquid liner, I just feel like I can control my line/wing better. Yet, again, its all a personal preference. :-)

Swatches Beautifully!

Rubbed My Hand Across The Swatches About Three Minutes After Application

The pigmentation is pretty good and it stays all day long! I have worn this from 7:00 in the morning until 6:00 at night and it will not move or transfer! I love how long wearing this formula is, because you can rely on this staying put without having to fear that your winged out eyeliner will smudge! This formula dries matte, which is great in my case because I prefer that over a shiny finish.

You will notice that in the swatches above where I rubbed my hand across the swatches after a few minutes the middle one looks like it did rub off. But, I assure you, I rubbed my fingers across the swatches pretty roughly. I promise, you will not be doing that with your eyes! ;)

Despite the fact that I do not love the flexible tip, I do like the formula and staying power of this liquid eyeliner. But, I do not love it enough to purchase this for $30.00. Honestly, there is a liquid eyeliner from the drugstore that I love even more for a fraction of the price.

So, I shall save my pennies for some other goodies!

Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow In, "Space Cowboy"

Urban Decay has amazing eyeshadows and I was super excited when a beauty kit I purchased from Sephora included a full size of Urban Decay's Moondust Eyeshadow in, "Space Cowboy". On Sephora's website these single eyeshadows retail for $20.00 each and come in seven different colors.

Urban Decay says that this eyeshadow has micro-fine glitter that will have only minimal fallout which is great, because in the past before they reformulated their eyeshadows, the fallout was a nightmare and I refused to wear their glittery shadows.

The product in the pan is breathtaking, because it is such a shiny gold. When I looked at it, the eyeshadow looked wet, like a cream eyeshadow, but its not, because this is a powder shadow!

I will admit that when I first applied this, I was sorely disappointed... From just looking in the pan, it appeared that the eyeshadow would be a highly pigmented golden color, but it was the exact opposite of my expectations. So, I had to go to Urban Decay's website to see how to apply these products.

Firstly, they recommend applying these shadows with your fingers, and I had applied it with my brush. And if you want intense color payoff, apply the eyeshadow wet with your fingers. So, when I followed directions, I knew I had to change my mind.

Dry Swatch

Wet Swatch

As you can see from the swatches above, this is a pretty natural (minus the glitter!) shade. When applied dry, it gives your lids a glisten of sheer gold with lots of sparkle! When applied wet, it has a higher density of color, with a metallic sparkly finish.

The appearance on the eyes is so beautiful and glamorous, it is perfect for a night out. The sparkle in the shadow, applied dry or wet is eye-catching and hard to miss. I would wear just this one eyeshadow with a bold red lip and it would be the ultimate gorgeous look!

There was a tiny bit of fall out with this eyeshadow, but like the website claimed, it is minimal. Just hold tissue under the eyes to catch any stray glitters.

To me, this is a special kind of eyeshadow that is perfect for those special occasions when you want to be on display and get glammed up! I ADORE this eyeshadow and will definitely try out more shades!

If you have tried these out and love them, let me know which ones are your favorites!

Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in, "Infrared"

I am not a diehard fan of Smashbox Cosmetics, but I will say I was excited to try out their Be Legendary Lipstick in the color, "Infared" that I received in a recent Glitz and Glam kit that I got from Sephora.

I was so happy that the kit included a full sized lipstick, because this retails for $20.00 by itself! In my opinion, that's not a steep price for a high-end lipstick, especially compared to the prices of other brands. On Spehora's website this line comes in matte and creme finishes in a variety of twenty different colors.

I will admit that I do not wear red shades often, but I am always intrigued by how glamorous red truly is. So, its always fun to have a beautiful red shade for a fun night out!

The packaging is a very durable metal with a tight fitting lid that slides securely on and off. It seems as if this is not going to drop and break, EVER! I like how sleek this packaging is, it looks and feels very high-end.  On the downside, this does seem to scratch a little easy when its in a beauty bag with other products. Just beware if that is a pet peeve of yours.

You will be happy to know that there is no scent to this lipstick, so those with sensitivity to smells will be pleased that they won't have to put up with overpowering scents in this product.

This is labeled as a matte lipstick, so when I went to apply it for the first time I was very surprised! My experience with matte formulas is that they tend to be more drying and they tug on the lips, but not this one! It glides smoothly on and feels moisturizing and creamy! The website says that they are infused with vitamins C and E to keep lips smooth, and I could tell that they pulled this off well!

Yes, this is a matte lipstick, but I have to be honest with you... When I applied this and wore it, I felt as if this wasn't a true matte, because there was still a slight shine to it. It is hard to describe in words, but it was slightly matte with a dull shine, if that makes sense.

Maybe the lip swatches below will help show you what I mean:

Just Because...

After I had worn this for a few hours, though, I felt as if the shine did wear off and it became a little more matte. I just wish I had taken a picture to show you guys! EEEK!

As I wore this throughout the day, my lips still felt comfortable and they even felt moisturized. There were no signs of dryness, I did not feel as if I had to apply a lip balm after taking this off either. There have been times when after wearing a matte lipstick that I could not wait to take it off and slather my lips with chapstick because they felt starved of moisture! So, I really do love this formula!

Kiss Test!
This was just a few minutes after application

The staying power is awesome! Yes, there is some transfer when drinking, yet, this holds its color extremely well! This definitely stains the lips a beautiful berry red (Smash box says this is a true red, but I feel there is a hint of a berry tone in this). After I had ended my day, I needed to take a makeup wipe to my lips to take it completely off.

I can't wait to try more of these lipsticks because the formula is amazing and the price is outstanding! And with twenty different shades to chose from, there is guaranteed to be a shade in there for everyone to adore!

What's your favorite color?

Have A Fantastic Day!
