Model Co. Pressed Bronzing Powder, "Bronze-Shimmer", Review And Swatches

Summertime, or maybe anytime, is when we bring out the summery bronzer, so when Boxycharm sent out a bronzer from Model Co. in the shade, Bronze-Shimmer, I was very happy to try this out!

You can find Model Co.'s beauty products online where they have everything a makeup lover could possibly want. Their Pressed Bronzing Powder retails for $24.00 and comes in a version of either Shimmer or Matte. I was sent the Bronze-Shimmer version, which you can check out here.

They claim that this formula is creamy and offers oil control while giving the skin a natural looking bronzed look. I have had time to test this bronzer out, so I'm going to share my thoughts with you now, so check it out!

This bronzer is about as big as the palm of my hand and you get 0.35 oz of product in this compact. And the compact is just the right size for traveling with, because the compact is not bulky. Honestly is it was a smidge taller, I would declare it too bulky for travel!

My only gripe, is that they could have put a mirror in the compact, because it is always handy to have a mirror built into makeup product's so that I don't have to pack an extra compact along with me. It would definitely save room...  Especially when paying $24.00 for this bronzer, it would be much appreciated!

When Model Co. says that this is the shimmery version of their pressed bronzing powders, they where not kidding in any way shape or form! I was hoping from the above pictures that it would capture the shimmer of this product. In the pan, there are noticeable micro-fine amounts of golden glitter, which is supposed to give you that golden glow, which is perfect for summertime!

When I first applied this bronzer, I was happy to find that this is a highly pigmented product! But, what I also noticed, that I did not love, was that the shimmer was pronounced and noticeable on my face! I applied it in the typical places, around the hairline and the hollows of my cheeks.

Since I was wearing this in the daytime while out doing some volunteer work, I realized that this is not an everyday bronzer.... Instead, I would wear this bronzer on a summer evening out on the town, or on a special occasion, because this is more of a fun eye catching/sun catching beauty product.

Since this is also a bronzer designed not only for your face, but also for your body, you can use this on your décolletage, which would be amazing on a night out!

The formula is very soft and borderline powdery, so tap off your brush! This applies to the face smoothly and is pigmented like I mentioned before. So, make sure you blend it out as you go! When I wore this, it lasted about six hours on my face, but showed signs of fading after that. So, it's performance did not last as long on my oily face, even with my BareMinerals PrimeTime Face Primer.

Overall, the Model Co. Pressed Bronzing Powder in Bronze-Shimmer is good for a night out when you are wanting to have a little fun with your beauty routine. Yet, during the day when you are going off to work, I wouldn't recommend wearing this, because you might look like a disco ball in a room full of LED's...

Taking a look at the Model Co's website, I would love to try out more of their beauty products that they have! Tell me, have you tried any out from Model Co. that you absolutely love?

The Lip Bar Lipstick, "Purple Rain" Review And Swatches

I always get excited over lip products, so when I received a lipstick from The Lip Bar in my May Boxycharm Box, I was so thrilled! I was sent the color, "Purple Rain", which is a beautiful neon-violet-lavender color, and also a shade that is completely out of my comfort zone!

What I appreciate about this brand is that they use healthy natural ingredients, such as shea butter and avocado oil, just to name a few. The brand is definitely geared more toward vibrant lip colors, with a few neutral colors thrown in there. Check out their lip bar menu here where you can find the color, "Purple Rain" that I am reviewing today. Their lip products retail for $20.00 each.

So, lets check this out!

The Lip Bar

The Lip Bar

First, please let us talk about the presentation and packaging of this product! It comes nestled in this velvet lipstick bag, that definitely scream luxury! This is not a flimsy velvet pouch, either. This is the kind that will stand the test of time and you can reuse in the future. I had already thought that it would be ideal to use when traveling to keep my studded earrings protected.

The Lip Bar

I love the look of this lipstick, because it is encased in this beautiful design that makes me want to just set it out on my vanity and admire it. The design is made of plastic material and feels sturdy to withstand being knocked around. But, truly, who would do that to a twenty dollar lipstick as pretty as this is?

Everything about the presentation of this lipstick is just down right cute and glamorous! I especially love the lip print on the packaging, it adds an adorable touch to this product. Even the scroll of the letters in the name of the company is a special touch, it looks stylish to me!

The lipstick twists easily up and it twists all the way back down into the tube so there is no top sticking up. You won't have to worry about nicking the lipstick when putting the cap back on. Oh, AND the top clicks shut securely, so no worrying about it jiggling lose and damaging your product.

The Lip Bar, "Purple Rain"

Just look at how absolutely beautiful "Purple Rain" is and how vibrant this shade is! This reminds me of a fun summer day and would look absolutely beautiful on all skin tones, in my modest opinion.

There is no scent whatsoever to this product, so you will be happy to know that anyone can wear this without having to worry about it overpowering your senses.

The formula is a dream, it is so creamy and saturated with color that it seriously will knock your socks off! The ingredients that The Lip Bar lipstick contains moisturized my lips throughout the three hours that I wore it. It was so comfortable to wear, that I was a little disappointed that purple isn't exactly a color I am confidant in wearing on my lips... Although, initially my husband laughed at me when I put it on, but did end up saying, "Actually, that looks good on you." YAY!

The Lip Bar, "Purple Rain"

Isn't The Lip Bar's "Purple Rain" an absolutely fun color?! Even though it is out of my comfort zone, it honestly is a wearable bue-toned lavender. I am seriously going to find someway to wear this with confidence along with a destination that is fitting for a vibrant purple such as this.

Tell me, are you confidant to wear shades such as this?

e.l.f. Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow, "Lunch Break", Review And Swatches

Okay, so I promise that this will be the last e.l.f. review for awhile... It's just that I have experimented with these products recently and can't wait to tell you about them! So, without further ado, lets talk about one of the e.l.f. Pressed Mineral Eyeshadows in the color, "Lunch Break"!

I purchased this on e.l.f.'s website for $3.00, but as I write this post, they are having a sale on their Pressed Mineral Eyeshadows, and the sale price is only $1.99! (As if they weren't already cheap to begin with!) Check it out here, but right now, the color I am reviewing, "Lunch Break", is out of stock. But check out the other eight eyeshadows in this line, there might be something that peaks your interest!

e.l.f. claims that their mineral eyeshadow is made with all natural ingredients and you can apply this either wet or dry and build it up to your desired intensity.

Lets check this out for ourselves, shall we?

Back Of Box

e.l.f. Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow, "Lunch Break"

I really appreciate that the eyeshadow compact came in its own individual box, because I think it would normally help to prevent the product from breaking, especially when it is being mailed. But, check out what happened to my eyeshadow...

e.l.f. Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow, "Lunch break"
I received this a little broken...

e.l.f. Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow, "Lunch Break"
Yup, completely broken :(

Despite any form of protection that was offered, this eyeshadow is so fragile that it did come completely shattered. It was so bad, that the other makeup products inside the bag where covered in a fine dusting of this eyeshadow. So, that was a complete bummer... But, I did manage to salvage most of it and press it back into the compact to use. It is still a touch messy when using it still, though. That is the downside. I am actually quite interested to see what the other pressed mineral eyeshadows look like in tip top shape!

I typically take a picture of the products in my hand so you can see how big the packaging truly is, but I failed to do it this time because of the messiness I was met with on my first meeting of this eyeshadow when I was taking pics of it. But, I will tell you this is slightly bigger than a MAC single eyeshadow compact, but also more slender and less bulky than a MAC eyeshadow compact.

When playing with this eyeshadow, I found the formula to be very soft to the touch and also powdery, but that might be just because it had fallen apart on me... I did find fallout when applying this eyeshadow to my lid dry, so do take precautions and tap off your brush before applying so you can get the excess off. It does help a bit!

Left: Dry Swatch
Right: Wet Swatch

You know, when I was first testing this eyeshadow out, I was not in love with it. It is a very subtle champagne color, that does not stand out. I felt it was a little too boring for my taste. But, honestly, this is such a beautiful natural looking eyeshadow that gives you just a little bit of sheen to the eyelids when it is applied dry. It is perfect for young teens or those of us wanting a natural everyday look!

Yet, as you can tell from the swatches above, when this is applied wet, it turns into a steely taupe color that is unbelievable! I absolutely love this eyeshadow even more when it is wet! What I appreciate is how this one eyeshadow can turn into two completely different eyeshadows and both are beautiful in their own way.

I really do like the e.l.f. Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow in "Lunch Break" and can't wait to try more of their glorious colors!

Are there any particular shades that you really like? Please, do let me know!

e.l.f. Essential Waterproof Eyeliner Pen, "Black" Review And Swatches

Yes, I understand you might be a little fed up with my e.l.f. reviews, but I will tell you that I bought a plethora of e.l.f. beauty products and have been testing these babies out for the past few weeks or so and I am dying to bring to you my thoughts on them. And that includes the e.l.f. Essential Waterproof Eyeliner in the color, Black!

The e.l.f. Essential Waterproof Eyeliner retails for just one whole dollar! Say Whaaaat!? That is an incredible deal and I was drawn in, wondering how these $1.00 liquid eyeliner pens performed.  Check out their selection on the website here where you can find this liquid eyeliner in six different colors.

e.l.f. claims that their liquid eyeliner will not smudge nor budge and that it will last for hours. They say that the fine tip will allow you to create a bold line on your lash lines.

Let's check this out!

e.l.f. Essential Waterproof Eyeliner Pen, "Black"

e.l.f. Essential Waterproof Eyeliner Pen, "Black"

e.l.f. Essentail Waterproof Eyeliner Pen, "Black"

e.l.f. Essential Waterproof Eyeliner Pen, "Black"

I absolutely love how skinny this eyeliner pen is, because it is as slender as a regular ink pen and is easy to handle and use because it is so lightweight and fits perfectly into your fingers. Not to mention, the cap clicks securely into place, so it will ease your mind knowing that it should help keep the product from drying out.

Oh, and because it is so slender and the cap is reliably secure, this makes an awesome beauty product to travel with! And that, my friends, is always a perk in my book!

e.l.f. Essential Waterproof Eyeliner Pen, "Black"

You can see that the e.l.f. Waterproof Eyeliner Pen does have an extremely fine tip, making it a breeze to create that thin precise line on your upper lash line. I have found that this pen helps to create that delicate outer wing because of the fine tip on the pen. Usually I just draw the outline and fill it in from there. Easy breezy!

e.l.f. Essential Waterproof Eyeliner Pen, "Black"

Just take a look at the swatches in the above picture! This is from when I first opened up the package and experimented with the liquid eyeliner. It was a very pigmented jet black, and I was very happy to see that!

e.l.f. does warn on the back of the package that you need to store this in a jar of sorts with the tip pointing down in order to ensure that the product does not dry out. And that is what I do! ;)

e.l.f. Essential Waterproof Eyeliner Pen, "Black"

Just look at how awesome this product stays on! I gently rubbed my fingers across the swatches to see if they would smear or smudge, and just take a look at how amazingly they withstood the test! It is true, it did fade just a touch, it was not as jet black as before, but really, how often are we going to be rubbing our eyes with makeup on? This impressed me greatly!

Well, after about a week and a half of using and enjoying e.l.f.'s Waterproof Eyeliner Pen, I did notice that despite storing it upright in a jar with the tip pointed down, the product started to dry out more than I liked. It started to take several pass-overs to get my liner pigmented and filled in. I would constantly have to pause in the process and shake the pen, hoping that it would help to warm the product up again and get the tip saturated enough to finish the job. But, it has not been as pigmented as the first few times I used it... And why should we have to be fighting with our products to get them to do the job they are designed to do?

So, for the reason that the e.l.f. Essential Waterproof Eyeliner Pen does not last more than two weeks in tip top working order, I am failing this product. To me, it does not matter if it is only $1.00, it still needs to have the quality and performance that I expect from any beauty product that I will be using on a daily basis.

Anyone out there have a holy grail e.l.f. product that they cannot live without? Please do tell!

e.l.f. Mineral Waterproof Shadow Liner, "Brown", Review And Swatches

Finding the eyeliner that works for you can be hard and frustrating to discover, because there is so many options out there. As you all know, I am trying to purchase more affordable options to satisfy my beauty obsession. That is why I purchased e.l.f.'s Mineral Waterproof Shadow Liner in the color, "Brown" to see how this would perform on me.

I purchased this on e.l.f.'s website, which you can check out here. They retail for $3.99 but as of right now, they are on sale for $1.99, so please do check out there selection. They come in six different colors, and when I last checked, a few of them where out of stock! So, get them while you can!

e.l.f. claims that this product will last all day, with no smudging, fading or running. They promise that this will give off bold rich color and glide on smoothly. You can use this as an eyeliner or you can blend it out and wear it as an eyeshadow.

Let's see how this held up, all we?

e.l.f. Mineral Waterproof Shadow Liner, "Brown"

e.l.f. Mineral Waterproof Shadow Liner, "Brown"

e.l.f. Mineral Waterproof Shadow Liner, "Brown"

e.l.f. Mineral Waterproof Shadow Liner, "Brown"

This is a jumbo sized pencil that twists the product up from the top, making it extremely convenient to keep in your everyday makeup bag because there is no sharpening required. That is always a huge plus in my book!

This pencil is made from plastic that is very durable. The plastic cap stays on pretty well, and seems like it will withstand being inside your makeup bag without falling off.

e.l.f. Mineral Waterproof Shadow Liner, "Brown"

I suppose the only downside to the fact that this is a jumbo pencil is that the tip is jumbo sized as well. It comes sharpened to a point, but after several uses, of course it rounds out and because the product is encased in a plastic pencil, there is no way to sharpen it. For some that might be an issue, so it is something to think about.

e.l.f. Mineral Waterproof Shadow Liner, "Brown"

I will say that this is a waxy formula and it does drag and skip when applying it to the lash line on the top. That is unfortunate, because no matter how many times I have used this as an eyeliner, it does not come out in a clean crisp line, because it skips terribly. BUT, what I do, is just use an angled eyeliner brush to smooth out and smudge the eyeliner and it looks very pretty. Same with the lower lash line, it smudges out like a dream.

I have also applied this as an eyeshadow and it blends out beautifully, but just make sure that you work quickly because this product sets fast. Because this is a matte eyeliner, with no sparkles in it, you can wear it as a matte eyeshadow or use it as a base and add your favorite eyeshadow on top, in whatever finish you like.

This is a very versatile product!

This formula is amazing! Because it does not and will not smudge nor budge! I have worn it on several occasions and it holds up all day long with no transfer whatsoever! This absolutely stands up to its claims! I love it!

Definitely check out the e.l.f. Mineral Waterproof Shadow Liner either in your local Target, Walmart, or on e.l.f.'s website! They are amazing and come in six different colors that I cannot wait to purchase for myself!

e.l.f. Essential Lipstick in, "Charming" VS. e.l.f. Studio Moisturizing Lipstick in, "Wink Pink"

E.l.f. has many lip products, but I thought it would be interesting to see how e.l.f.'s Lipstick from their Essential line compares to their Moisturizing Lipstick from their Studio line. I picked up e.l.f.'s Essential Lipstick in the color, "Charming" for $1.00 and than I picked up e.l.f.'s Studio Moisturizing Lipstick in the color, "Wink Pink" for $3.00. Both are extremely affordable, but I was wondering which formula is better?

Check out e.l.f.'s Essential Lipstick's here, where you can find three of these on sale as I write this post, for only .49 cents! In total, e.l.f. has eleven Essential Lipstick's to choose from, eight which are not on sale, but are still only $1.00.

Go ahead and check out e.l.f.'s Studio Lipstick here where you can find a total of thirteen lipsticks in a wide range of colors.

First, let's check out e.l.f.'s Essential Lipstick in "Charming" to see if this was a keeper!

e.l.f. Essential Lipstick, "Charming"

e.l.f. Essentail Lipstick, "Charming"

e.l.f. Essential Lipstick, "Charming"

e.l.f. Essential Lipstick, "Charming"

E.l.f.'s Essential line happens to offer the cheapest price for their products. And we all know that e.l.f. is typically affordable all the way across the board. And just because this line is on the lower end of their price range doesn't mean that they do not have quality items. I will say, as I have said about e.l.f products before, that their beauty products can be pretty hit and miss.

So, lets see if "Charming" is as "Charming" as it sounds.... ;)

E.l.f. claims that the Essential Lipsticks will give your lips long lasting color while adding moisture and hydration.

e.l.f. Essentail Lipstick, "Charming"

e.l.f. Essential Lipstick, "Charming"

I do not like the packaging. And I do not even mean "looks" wise. This is after all only $1.00, so I do not expect fancy packaging. But, trying to twist the product up is a little annoying, because it seems to catch when trying to roll the lipstick up. Basically, this does not twist smoothly up. Yes, this is a peeve of mine.

I do like how the middle of the tube has a see through band that shows the actual lipstick inside the tube. It makes it so easy when trying to figure out what the color inside is without taking the cap off.

e.l.f. Essential Lipstick, "Charming"

Well, I tried this lipstick out several times to see how best to wear it, because the first time was a turn off for me. Let's just say that the first time, the lipstick felt very dry on my lips and looked chalky. It was not flattering at all. The formula seemed to be the exact opposite of what they claimed.

Well, the second time I tried it, I had to make sure that I exfoliated my lips well and applied lip balm. Than, I blotted my lips to get most of the balm off so I could apply the Essential Lipstick. It than applied much easier and much prettier.

e.l.f. Essential Lipstick, "Charming"

I also find that the formula is not as opaque, it comes off quite sheer and more light than what it looks like it should be according to the product in the tube. Also, I find it quite interesting, that on the package, the swatch they have for the lip color is red... There is no way in this world that the lip swatch, nor the lipstick itself, is red... Quite deceiving!

For those who are sensitive to smell, this particular lipstick has a very unique scent that I have never encountered in any beauty product before. Maybe you have to be an eighties baby like I am to remember the Flintstones Vitamins, but I remember those being a real treat for me, I would even sneak them when my parents weren't looking! It had a very unique scent that right away I thought of when I got a whiff of this lippie. It's like a sweet chalky scent, if you will. And in this lipstick, it is very strong! So, beware.

Overall, I am not in love with this lipstick formula. It was not as pigmented as I hoped it would have been and the formula was slightly drying, even after having exfoliated and moisturized my lips. So, I shall NOT be repurchasing their Essential Lipsticks again.

Let's see how I fared with e.l.f.'s Studio Moisturizing Lipstick in, "Wink Pink"!

e.l.f. Studio Moisturizing Lipstick, "Wink Pink"

e.l.f. Studio Moisturizing Lipstick, "Wink Pink"

e.l.f. Studio Moisturizing Lipstick, "Wink Pink"

E.l.f's Studio line is the step up from their Essential Line and again, I have found that even some of their Studio beauty products are hit and miss. But, I think it is always worth trying their different products from all their lines to see if any are winners to you, because the price is so affordable!

E.l.f. claims that their Studio Lipsticks will give your lips a long lasting moisture rich formula that will wear comfortably on your lips and last a long time.

e.l.f. Studio Moisturizing Lipstick, "Wink Pink"

e.l.f. Studio Moisturizing Lipstick, "Wink Pink"

The packaging is much nicer than the Essential Lipstick, not only in looks, but also in the way the lipstick twists up. This twisst up smoother and easier, with no catching! As with the Essential Lipstick, I appreciate how the bottom of this lipstick shows what the color of this lipstick is. That is so convenient for when searching your lipstick stash for the color that you want!

e.l.f. Studio Moisturizing Lipstick, "Wink Pink"

I immediately fell in love with this formula when I first applied this to my lips, because it immediately felt moisturizing! It applied smoothly and evenly across my lips and the color was very pigmented.

There is a slight sweetly fake scent to this lipstick that is not strong. Honestly, it is hardly detectable and when you apply this to the lips, you won't smell a thing at all!

e.l.f. Studio Moisturizing Lipstick, "Wink Pink"

I find that I really like how moisturizing this lipstick is and how it wears comfortably through out the day. This is definitely the kind of lipstick that I would like to repurchase in the future, because it is so extremely affordable and it comes in many different colors that I can add to my ever growing collection!

So... Needless to say, the winner in this lipstick battle is e.l.f.'s Moisturizing Lipstick! Spend an extra two dollars and you will not be disappointed, because the formula and pigmentation are AMAZING! You cannot beat the price!

Tell me what your favorite e.l.f. product is!
